Conservative Dentistry
Conservative dentistry includes all treatments aimed at maintaining teeth in good health and function for as long as possible. It includes:
- The prevention and treatment of cavities, which is the most common disease of the mouth.
- The consequences of dental trauma, which usually affects the hard tissues of the tooth, enamel and dentin.
- The replacement of amalgam reconstructions.
- The renewal of composites in poor condition.
- The use of composites for esthetic purposes.
At Clínica Proboca we are aware of the importance of teeth, and that is why we always opt for minimally invasive adhesive techniques, which are much more respectful of the healthy structures of your teeth.
ANTERIOR COSMETICS
The high aesthetics and biomimetics achieved with composites and current techniques make this material an important ally in dental cosmetic treatments or smile improvement.
In this case we have used it, in the first examples, to camouflage the black triangles, which appear as a consequence of periodontal disease, and in the second example to enhance a smile with teeth of different sizes and the presence of two underdeveloped or conoid teeth. The use of polarized photographs helps us choose the colors accurately andy, to achieve almost imperceptible results.
POSTERIOR COSMETICS
Adhesive techniques require a dry environment and saliva does not help. For this reason, at Clínica Proboca we always opt for the use of a rubber dam to achieve absolute isolation, so that the bond between the reconstruction material (normally composite) and the tooth is effective and long-lasting. If this is not the case, the adhesion achieved won’t be correct and over time the composites can become detached.
The use of dyes or stains allows us to imitate the anatomy and color of adjacent teeth, achieving reconstructions that are practically invisible and integrated into the mouth as a whole.

ENDODONTICS
When a cavity or dental trauma ends up affecting the inner layers of the tooth, pulp or "nerve", it is necessary to perform an endodontic or root canal treatment. The objective is:
- Remove the organic tissue of the pulp or "nerve" from inside the tooth.
- To achieve an effective chemical disinfection of the canal system, where the "nerve" was, located by using certain disinfectant liquids.
- Seal that internal canal system of the tooth with a stable material, usually Gutta-percha, to prevent the spread of bacteria to the outside of the tooth, which runs the risk of re-infection.
- When these three conditions are met, the body is prepared to eliminate the infection around the tooth and, over time, regenerate the bone destruction that has occurred.
Complete regeneration is very variable over time (in our example of 3 years) and will depend on the initial size of the lesion, hence the importance of periodic radiographic control until complete resolution.
